                The big news is that all seven of the books published under the Rotorhead Media LLC imprint are now available as audiobooks on Amazon. The photo is the covers of the counterterrorism novels The Red Star of Death, Insidious Dragon, Failure to Fire, and Flight of the Pawnee and the last three of the Jaco Jacinto Age of Sail series – Last Battles, for a Few Francs, and Predators that are now available as audio books.

KDP, Amazon's publishing arm, asked if I was interested in participating in a beta test using narration software. There were 25 voice choices, and I picked two, a man and a woman. Both The Red Star of Death and Insidious Dragon are narrated by a woman, the rest by men. If I participated in the program, then KDP would convert the six books to audiobooks and make them available on Amazon Prime for free for a limited time. If you are not a Prime member, the retail price is $4.99.

                These are in addition to Cherubs 2, Big Mother 40, and Render Harmless which were already audiobooks. This brings the total to 10 of the 17 books I've published that are now audio books.

                About a week ago, I finished Part II of the Evolution of the Aircraft Carrier Deck and hope to post it in late July. 

                The next National Defense Briefing Series event will be on Sunday, July 27th, 2025. Our speakers are Joanna Moore and Christina Harward from the Institute of the Study of War. Miss Moore is the co-lead of the institute's Middle East and Iran team, and Miss Harward is one of their leading analysts on Russia and its relationship with the People's Republic of China. Books in Work

                The edit of Retribution has turned into a major rewrite. I have about a week's worth of work left on it and then decide when to publish it. There are some things floating around in the background that may move its publication date forward. I’ll make that decision once I finish the rewrite. 

                Other books are on hold until I finish Retribution. One of the unexpected outcomes of this work is the idea of writing another novel. Egads!!!

Question of the Month

What has surprised you most about writing novels that take place during the Age of Sail? One came from research when I realized that today, 250 years after our country was founded, we still face many of the social and political issues our Founding Fathers faced in the 1790s. It is not that they failed, but the geopolitical context in which the original solutions were created changed dramatically. This research led to my blog about the period between ~1770 and 1815, which, as of 6/29/2025, has 319 posts. Next month, I’ll share the other surprise.
