Bill Personius, Arne Nelson and I took delivery this morning of a Polar
Bricks pallet with a 1000lbs of additional bricks which include the 85
bricks ordered since we originally laid the existing donor bricks prior to
the dedication in January 2025. Because the truck driver failed to follow
the pre-arrangements, instead of off delivering them in Lane 5 in front of
the Helo on the Stick at the main gate, he came and dropped them at the NHA
Building $654 on North Island.
The plan was to get them relocated out of the Lane 5 off load position this
morning and start installing them under the aircraft but our plans have
changed. So PWC kindly lifted the pallet of 85 bricks into the back of my
pickup and we will start the installation tomorrow morning, Tuesday, July
15, 2025 from Lane 5 into North Island Main gate, at 0900 when security
closes Lane 5 daily.
Right now, Bill Personius, Chip Lancaster and I will be working this
beginning at 0900 tomorrow but if any of you in the local San Diego area
would like to join us to help move the bricks from the pickup truck to the
installation area in line with Bill's installation plan, please do. Besides
helping it also will give any volunteers a chance to inspect the new bricks
as well and the installed bricks.
Since this is an official action and work party, we will have approval of
the base CO and base security to do this work and to be in this area, so any
of you who would like to help as volunteers can just come down, park in the
visitor parking lot and make your way safety over to the helo on the stick.
Since Lane 5 is formally closed at 0900, my pickup will be parked in the
lane as will Bill Personius's pickup and probably Chip Lancaster's car, so
parking in visitors parking is the way to go on this project.
It would be a good idea to bring gloves, something to kneel on, foldup
chair, some water and sun protection although Bill will have an easy up to
help with the sun.
Drop me an email if you would like to join in..hope to see a few of
you...mgb
